Pool heat pump cost in Ibiza

In short

Heating a pool with a heat pump costs according to the water volume, how far you want to extend the season and whether the pool is covered. It is done with a dedicated heat pump or a heat exchanger connected to the house's heat pump.

What drives the price?

  • The water volume and the surface area.
  • The temperature you want and how many months you want to swim.
  • Whether the pool is indoor, outdoor or has a cover.
  • Wind exposure, which increases evaporation and losses.
  • The solution: a dedicated heat pump or a heat exchanger connected to the house's heat pump.
  • The distance between the filtration room and the unit.

Dedicated heat pump or heat exchanger?

SolutionWhen it fitsComment
Pool heat pumpMedium or large pools, or houses without a heat pumpIndependent unit, connected to the filtration circuit
Heat exchanger from the house's heat pumpHouses with a heat pump and spare outputUses the existing unit; the house has priority over the pool
Heat pump and solar panelsPools used mainly during the dayUses solar production. See heat pumps with solar panels

How much does it cost?

Indicative ranges for the unit, fitting and connection to the filtration circuit. Building work and pool covers are not included.

What do the regulations say?

The Regulation on Thermal Installations in Buildings (RITE) sets three rules that affect pools:

  • Outdoor pools: can only be heated with renewable or waste energy (IT 1.2.4.6.2).
  • Heat pumps: part of their output counts as renewable if their seasonal performance factor (SPF) exceeds the minimum set by the European Commission (IT 1.2.4.6.1).
  • Heated indoor pools: the water surface must be protected with thermal barriers against evaporation when not in use (IT 1.2.4.5.5).

In practice, the unit and its performance matter: ask for the model's data sheet.

Which items should the quote include?

ItemWhat it is
Heat pump or heat exchangerBrand, model, output and heat exchanger material
Hydraulic connectionPipes, valves and bypass in the filtration circuit
ControlsWater thermostat and time schedule
Electrical supplyPower line and protection for the unit
PlinthBase for the outdoor unit
Pool coverIf included, with roller
CommissioningSetting flows and the target temperature

Which costs are not always visible?

  • Increasing the electrical power if the house is close to its limit.
  • Trenches when the unit is far from the filtration room.
  • Replacing the filtration pump if it cannot deliver the flow the heat exchanger needs.
  • Acoustic screens if the unit is close to terraces or neighbours.
  • A pool cover, which is not always included and saves the most.

How do you compare two quotes?

  1. Same target temperature and same season of use.
  2. Justified output based on volume, surface area and wind exposure.
  3. Unit performance under real operating conditions, not just ideal ones.
  4. Heat exchanger material if the pool uses salt.
  5. What is left out: cover, building work and changes to the filtration.

Frequently asked questions

Can an outdoor pool be heated with a heat pump?

Yes. The RITE only allows outdoor pools to be heated with renewable or waste energy, and a heat pump partly counts as renewable if its seasonal performance exceeds the minimum set by the European Commission. That is why an efficient unit matters.

Dedicated heat pump or heat exchanger?

If the house already has a heat pump with spare output, a heat exchanger can use it. If not, or if the pool is large, a dedicated pool heat pump is usually better. We assess it by volume and use.

How far can the swimming season be extended?

It depends on the temperature you want, the volume, the wind and whether the pool is covered at night. A pool cover makes a big difference. [DATO PENDIENTE: temporadas habituales en instalaciones de Climai Group en Ibiza]

Do I need a pool cover?

It is not mandatory for a private outdoor pool, but it saves the most: most heat is lost through the water surface. For heated indoor pools, the RITE requires the water surface to be protected when not in use.

How much does heating a pool use?

It depends on the volume, target temperature, season and whether it is covered. We estimate it in the study. [DATO PENDIENTE: ejemplos de consumo validados por Climai Group]

Can I run the pool heat pump on solar panels?

Yes, and it fits well: the pool heat pump can run during sunny hours, when there is production. We explain it in heat pumps with solar panels.

Does salt water affect the unit?

With salt chlorination you need a corrosion-resistant heat exchanger, usually titanium. We state it in the quote.

Shall we look at your home?

Estimate an indicative output or ask us for a quote. You deal with a single local installer.
