Does Santa Eulària des Riu reduce IBI or ICIO for heat pumps?

Not today. The rebates offered by Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council are for systems that use solar energy. None of them mentions heat pumps or ambient energy.

On 24 September 2026 the council provisionally approved an amendment to the IBI bylaw (BOIB no. 125, 3/10/2026). According to local press, it would add "ambient energy" (heat pumps) to the 50% rebate from 1 January 2027. The text has not been published yet: we will confirm it once it is finally approved.

What conditions does the solar rebate set?

• The installation must provide at least 40% of the home's energy needs.
• It must be requested between 1 January and 31 March and is not retroactive.
• It is not granted if the installation is compulsory; solar thermal collectors must be approved.
• Shared installations in apartment buildings are accepted.
• The ICIO rebate is requested in writing before work starts, so municipal technicians can report on it.

What if I combine a heat pump with solar panels?

It is a common combination: the heat pump uses electricity and the panels cover part of it. The solar part may qualify for the rebate if it meets the conditions above. We help you gather the technical documents.

Could this change soon?

Since 22 March 2026, the local finance law allows town halls to reduce IBI by up to 50% and ICIO by up to 95% for installations that use solar or ambient energy, which includes heat pumps. For this to apply in Santa Eulària des Riu, Santa Eulària des Riu Town Council has to amend its bylaw. Santa Eulària has already taken the first step (see above).

Which climate zone is Santa Eulària des Riu in?
